Sally Hogshead

Growing up with the last name Hogshead would give anyone an unconventional point of view. Today Sally is an author and speaker, leading world-class companies in brand innovation. She has been interviewed on The Today Show, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS, and described as an “advertising mastermind” and “advertising icon,” who has “changed the face of North American advertising.”

In her second year in advertising, Sally won more awards than any other copywriter in the U.S. By age 27 she’d opened her first ad agency. Since then, her work has been honored by the Smithsonian Museum of American History, "Best Ads on TV,” and the $100,000 Grand Kelly for MINI Cooper.

For four years, Sally trained extensively with internationally-recognized speaking coach Nick Morgan, and now leads keynotes and workshops for companies such as Starbucks, Sprint, and Microsoft. She contributes to Tom Peter’s website, and sits on multiple boards for innovation. Additionally, she has interviewed business leaders such as Seth Godin, Scott Donaton, and James Gilmore of The Experience Economy for her podcast. Her column, “Hogshead On,” appears in Advertising Age magazine.

After the release of her first book, Radical Careering: 100 Truths to Jumpstart Your Job, Your Career, and Your Life, Sally toured the country with CareerBuilder.com, teaching audiences how to create a kickass career. Marcus Buckingham, author of The One Thing You Need to Know, wrote: "Take inventory of your strengths, identify your passions, then do everything in your power to carve your career toward them. Only then will you, and everyone else, see the best of you. Want to know how? Read this book.” Jeff Taylor, Founder of Monster.com, said, "Radical Careering is a jolt to the old way of thinking about careers; a handbook of new thinking that will help you survive, strive and thrive in the radically new world of work."

Sally's second book, Fascinate: Your Seven Triggers to Persuasion and Influence, reveals how to make people, brands, and ideas more fascinating. This book, published by Harper Collins was released in January 2010 and currently available for purchase.

In her spare time, she campaigns to bring back the “hogshead” as a unit of popular measurement in the U.S.
